Welcome to the Kalpa Bhadra website. Kalpa Bhadra
(which means 'Ocean of Good Fortune' in Sanskrit)
is a residential centre in North Wales providing teachings,
meditations and retreats on Buddhism and the
Buddhist way of life. By exploring meditation
we can increase our inner peace and experience true
happiness in our lives.
"When the turbulence of distracting thoughts
subsides and the mind becomes still, a deep happiness
and contentment naturally arises from within."
--Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
Our Centre:
Kalpa Badhra centre is located in the beautifully preserved Victorian holiday resort of Llandudno on the North Wales coast. A spectacular natural setting, the town has two beaches and a pier and is bounded by rugged headlands- the Great Orme and the Little Orme.
Within easy reach are the mountains of Snowdonia and many lakes, waterfalls, unspoilt beaches and countryside.

The centre resides in a large double-fronted 10 bedroom Victorian town house which was acquired in June 2007. It is easily accessed by bus or train. Having been tastefully restored it is now a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Currently home to six residents, several guest rooms are available for those wishing to enjoy a weekend break or longer. Visitors to the Centre can enjoy our lounge/cafe area, bookshop and shrine room. The beach and surrounding hill-side are only a few minutes’ walk away. There is plenty of space for quiet walks and contemplation.
We offer a range of classes and courses, from General programme classes to Foundation programme classes, day courses and retreats. Popular fund-raising events, such as hikes in the mountains and entertaining quizzes are always thoroughly enjoyed.
Reception Hours:
We are open most weeks when classes are running, Saturdays 2pm-4.30pm.
Why not drop in for a cup of tea?
